module 8 video review


1. Explain why you selected each of the three videos you choose from the selection listed above.

As a sucker for Ancient Greek and Egypt mythology I was my interest to know more about ancient arts and how such arts were developed and the videos explained that.  

2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

More Human Than Human: how humans don’t like realism so the ancient Egypt and Greece had to make their art extraordinary as shown in the video the Venus of Willendorf.

Beyond the Classical: Byzantine and Later Greek Art: Greek art flourished with the rise of Christianity and the Orthodox Church. Also, how Byzantine began the art of painting.

The Greek Awakening: Art from the 5th Century BC: Human beings are the center of existence and the restoration of Parthenon. Also, shows some of the great art of Greek such as the theater at Epidavros.

2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?

The video related to the reading in the text in a way that it educate us on ancient Greek and Egypt architecture, and art which the text does the same. Also, shows how ancient Greek and Egypt had different style in art but Greek copied and enhanced the art of Egypt as well as Rome copying and enhancing Greek art and architecture.

3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?

My opinion on the films is how they all relate to Greek, Rome, and Egypt art and architecture and shows the beginning of art. They add depth by explaining how artist in the ancient world wanted to create extraordinary from the ordinary.

Module Seven - Blog: Video Review


1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

*Architecture: The Science of Design:
The key concepts I learned was how the video explain architecture as being art, and gravity or wind effect on buildings. Also, wind tunnel testing is applied to enhance the building from collapsing.

Classical Architecture:
The key concepts I learned is how classic style of Rome and Greek are still being used today in architecture. Also, Palladian's architectural influence in Britain

2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?

* The video related to the reading in the text in a way that both describes the three style of architecture used by the Rome and Greek and how it has influence modern day architecture. The textbook explains it in depth while the video gives a lot of visuals.

3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of Architecture?

* The videos gave me a visual on architecture by showing classic architectural constructions from ancient Greek and Rome. Also, add depth to how architects construct a building and to secure the buildings strength to last.

4. Why did you choose the films that you watched?

* I choose this films because the title Architecture: The science of design and classical Architectural caught my attention and i was interested in seeing what the video reveals about architecture especially the classical aspect.

Video Review



1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

Installation Art
The key concepts I learned is installation art defines space, something all around you, some installations can be seen from miles away others are invisible, give audience the chance to interact with art work or space.
Glass and Ceramics
The key concepts I learned is how glass are first made,  the use of clay and the temperature in which they are made.
Through the Eyes of the Sculptor
The key concepts I learned is how clay and plaster are used to create a sculptor, the artist sketch his or her art before carving. it requires skills, knowing the proper stone to begin the sculptor. Mable stone are mostly used.

2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?

 The video related to the reading in the text in a way that it educate us on different type of arts and explaining how such art is relevant and the purpose of the artist which in installation art is to give audience the chance to interact with art work or space.

3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the topics: Sculpture, Installation, and Craft?

 Though it was hard understanding the narrator beside that i gained new insight on sculptures, ceramics, and installation art. the depth added to my understanding is how such arts have the same purpose; to create extraordinary such in installation art, to express and establish something meaningful such in sculptors.

* I agreed with both peers project and how both portrayed elements and principle of art in their projects.

3. When looking at Project #2: Where there any images in the Peer Blogs the same as your own? If yes, what were they? Where the reasons the image was selected the same or different as your own?

  * not at all, i had different sketch though the ideas of elements and principles of art were seen in both peers project.

4. Where there any images that your Peers selected that pique your interest now? If yes, what are they and what is your connection with them? What would you want to know about them?

   * Yes, the picture of the basketball, i liked how fellow peer captured the angle of the basketball showing the lines which represent element of art.

5. What do you think about  the process of reading your peers reflection? Do you find this to be a valuable in your learning?

   * i think is great that we get to read fellow peers reflections it helps us to better our work. i found it very valuable.

Art Gallery Visit


1. Which artworks make an impact or impression on me ? Why ?
Kelly Richardson's installation view of Leviathan made an impression on me because of how she photographed the trees for the audience was impressive.
      

2. Which artworks do I feel a connection with?
I personally felt the connecting with Dennis Maher’s House of Collective Repai just because I have seen most of the collections in the house such as the TV and the lamp.

3. Which artworks would I like to know more about and why?
Jirí Kolárpiece art Cycladic Heads was interesting to me and the message was clear though I thought it wasn't much going on but it there was a lot to analyze deeply and see what message the artist was trying to portray.
