1. Explain why you selected each of the three videos you choose
from the selection listed above.
As a sucker for Ancient Greek and Egypt mythology I was my
interest to know more about ancient arts and how such arts were developed and
the videos explained that.
2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
More
Human Than Human: how humans don’t like realism so the ancient Egypt and Greece had
to make their art extraordinary as shown in the video the Venus of Willendorf.
Beyond
the Classical: Byzantine and Later Greek Art: Greek
art flourished with the rise of Christianity and the Orthodox Church. Also, how
Byzantine began the art of painting.
The
Greek Awakening: Art from the 5th Century BC: Human
beings are the center of existence and the restoration of Parthenon. Also,
shows some of the great art of Greek such as the theater at Epidavros.
2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
The video related to the reading in the text in a way that it
educate us on ancient Greek and Egypt architecture, and art which the text does
the same. Also, shows how ancient Greek and Egypt had different style in art
but Greek copied and enhanced the art of Egypt as well as Rome copying and
enhancing Greek art and architecture.
3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to
understanding of the readings and art concepts?
My opinion on the films is how they all relate to Greek, Rome, and
Egypt art and architecture and shows the beginning of art. They add depth by
explaining how artist in the ancient world wanted to create extraordinary from
the ordinary.
